Healing Heroes: A Warrior’s Journey to Light and Healing

About

Our war veterans bear both visible and invisible wounds. To heal, both types of wounds must be addressed. PTSD and moral injury are invisible, disabling wounds that can cause suffering more debilitating than any visible wound.

A warrior’s journey to light and healing. “I’ll never be who I was, but I’ll try to enjoy who I can become.”

This initiative seeks healing through a few different organizing themes: The journey from darkness to light, the hero’s journey, the wounded healer and finally, re-defining what “service” means — such as, transitioning from service as a combat warrior to service as a healer. In these workshops, sharing, exploration and connecting with fellow comrades is woven around a personalized lamp making process that begins with gathering materials for making paper and culminates with a sculptural illuminated paper lamp that embodies the healing and light these warriors seek.
